The first video from The Orchids is here!!!!!!!
See attached re news of a new video by The Orchids. Hope you enjoy watching it as much as we enjoyed making it! It was filmed in Prestwick and the south side of Glasgow in January this year. We are seriously considering hanging up our instruments and leaving it to the "Mini Orchids" to take it on from here!! I think they are fantastic in the video.
Thanks to all of the crew from Jangle Films for doing an impossible job!.

Update from the band!!!!!
We recently played the excellent Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona where we managed to become nocturnal for the full weekend, taking in some brilliant shows by The Fall, Modest Mouse, Built to Spill and Of Montreal. It really is a totally unique event and we'd recommend it for everyone.
The live sets were punctuated by many visits to the VIP area (OK, I had to mention it, we don't get that sort of treatment very often) where the drinks were free - I don't think they really thought that one through before inviting us to the party!!!. Going back to our hotel on the packed metro at 6am was a surreal experience and our friend Brain was convinced that Art Garfunkel was on the same train - so we hope the poor guy who looks like Art has recovered from the Glaswegian shouts of "ART!" "ART" that punctuated the journey home - we are truly sorry!!
The Sunday night when we played began rather worryingly for us when we turned up fifteen minutes before our stage time with the place half empty! Our fears were unfounded however as we stepped out of the dressing room to a full venue. Thanks to everyone at Primavera, the Apolo and most of all the audience for making it such an enjoyable experience - they danced, they sang (fans who know all of the words is also a new one for us!!!) and gave us a great reception.
Rather annoyingly, the band sharing the stage with us that night stuck around the whole night in the dressing room, even during our set. This meant we had no personal space and our pre gig huddle was cut woefully short!!. Back in the the old days we'd have sorted them out but we've definitely mellowed and instead we all headed upstairs to enjoy Of Montreal after our set, leaving them wailing to a half empty hall.
Later, after dragging Ronnie and Paul (who are both old enough to know better) from the venue at 5.30am we also proceeded to piss the hotel staff off - I got them up to open the door only to turn around and find that I was suddenly on my own - they had both disappeared into the warm Barcelona night/morning to act as human statues on the Ramblas - aye, try that on Sauchiehall Street at 5.30am and see what happens to you!!!
PS - UK festivals take note - the provision of mobile Estrella Damm staff with back packs of beer and plastic glasses roaming through the festival crowds to serve you as you watched a live set was a wonderful innovation. We debated it long and hard but couldn't really see it catching on at T in The Park (think you can see in your own minds the ensuing chaos if they tried that one..........)
Anyway - enjoy the summer and hope to see some of you at Indie Tracks at the end of July.
(As usual, if you don't want to receive these updates then e mail me back - without swearing at me - and let me know never to darken your door again!!!)

ESTRELLA DAMM PRIMAVERA SOUND 2007 CLOSING PARTY
As
happened in the last years, Sunday 3 of June we will finish
another new festival edition with a closing party in Apolo club and
La [2] where you will have free entrance with Estrella Damm Primavera
Sound 2007 three-day ticket.
Spanish scene will be represented
by the band from Sevilla Southern Arts Society, leaded by Andy
Jarman and creators of a cinematic pop flavoured with electronica
touches.
A new rising promise will be playing too: the canadian
band Malajube that will release in Europe the new album
"Trompe L'Oeil".
From Glasgow will come The Orchids,
a living legend of indie pop and one of the reference bands of
legendary British label Sarah Records. The creators of “Striving
For The Lazy Perfection" will release a new lp in spanish label
Siesta and they will be in Barcelona in order to perform it.
The
night will be completed with one of the most interesting bands this
year, Of Montreal. Kevin Barnes and his folks will unfold all
the magic contained in "Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?"
the new work that's making them break the underground's frontier,
thanks to its irresitible mixture of Prince influenced funk, glam and
Elephant 6’s pop.
The night will finish with one of our
favourite discjockeys: Erol Alkan whom the 2007 is being the
year of his massive acknowledgement: 2006 best dj on Mixmag magazine
and Scissors Sisters and Klaxons remixes has helped to the most
rockist dj on dance scene to turns into a star.
The line-up of
this night is not still finished. We will add more artists soon.
